About
One room, a rotating wall, and no reproductions.
The Art Room began as a shared studio above a hardware shop. Six makers, one kettle, and a wall that had to be repainted every time something sold.
What we sell
Original paintings, ceramics, prints and textile work, made by hand by people we know. Prints are pulled in small runs and signed. Nothing is mass produced, and nothing is bought in to fill a gap on the wall.
How pricing works
The maker sets the price. We take a flat commission that covers the room, the photography and the crate. No auctions, no negotiated markup, no waiting list.
Photography
Every piece is photographed on the same wall, in daylight, at the same distance. Colour is checked against the original before it goes up, so what you see is close to what arrives.
Commissions
Most makers take one or two commissions a year. Tell us the wall, the light and the budget, and we will say honestly whether someone has the time.
